What is herbal tea?

Herbal tea looks like tea and is brewed in the same way as tea, but it not actually a tea at all.  This is because Herbal Tea does not come from the Camellia Sinensis bush, the plant from which all teas are made.  Herbal teas are actually infusions, and are properly called tisanes.  Tisanes are made from mixtures of dried leaves, seeds, grasses, nuts, barks, fruits, flowers, or other botanical elements that give them their taste and provide the benefits of herbal teas.

Unlike other forms of tea, herbal teas contain no caffeine.  They also taste great and are easy to drink.  Your herbal tea may consist of one main herbal ingredient or it may be a blend of herbal ingredients, designed to bring about a specific purpose, such as relaxation, rejuvenation, or relief from a specific condition.

Each Blossom Blends herbal tea has been flawlessly fine-tuned by a qualified herbalist to deliver what you want and perform just as we describe – whether it’s a turning over a healthy new leaf or a “Little Pick Me Up”.

What is the best way of making loose leaf Blossom Blends tea?

1)     Per Cup – Using a Tea Strainer:

Place your tea strainer on the cup with one teaspoon of the selected Blossom Blends Tea (equivalent to a small pinch). Pour the boiling water over the tea and let steep for 3-5 minutes (as per the directions on the tin for each blend). Enjoy!

Notes: A tea strainer is very helpful as it stops the leaves and flowers from escaping into the drink whilst showing off the beauty of Blossom Blends High Quality tea. There are various tea strainers available for sale depending on whether you want a traditional or modern design, please visit our shop for some good choices: http://www.blossomblends.com.au/tea-essentials

2)     Making a Pot of Blossom Blends Tea (for one or more)

This is a great way to serve family and friends with the same tea blend. Simply place one teaspoon per cup into the Tea Pot with an extra teaspoon for the Pot (so if you are making four cups add five teaspoons and so forth). Let steep for 3-5 minutes (as per the directions on the tin for each blend), serve and enjoy!

There are several one cup and multi-cup tea pots available through Blossom Blends, please visit our shop for more information: http://www.blossomblends.com.au/tea-essentials

Are your teas expensive – how much is it per cup?

Blossom Blends Tea’s are extremely cost effective. Because only a teaspoon is required per cup, the cost can be as little as 20 cents per cup. Many cafes’ offer tea blends for sale at $4.50 per cup!

In addition, unlike other tea’s Blossom Blends Tea’s are guaranteed to remain fresh and flavoursome for up to two years if stored in the suppled airtight tin caddies – although we are sure you will be reordering a long time before then (most customers order every 1-2 months)

What is the best way to store tea and tisanes and how long does it usually last?

The best way to store tea is in our adorable air tight tin caddies that the tea arrives in. If stored correctly Blossom Blends Tea can remain fresh and flavoursome for up to two years.

What is the difference between Blossom Blends and other tea companies? Do you supply tea bags?

We do not supply tea bags as our loose leaf tea collection is a premium range where only one teaspoon per cup is required (tea bags can have up to one tablespoon per bag!). Our customers enjoy making Blossom Blends loose leaf tea with a tea strainer as they get a superior result with a minimum of mess and fuss.

Blossom Blends only uses the finest quality tea. Commercial Mass Market Tea bags contain a high percentage of low quality tea dust, many impurities and added artificial colours and flavours. Most tea bags brew almost instantly to achieve an inferior flavour. Some tea bag materials can also include bleaching agents.

Can I add milk or sweetener?

We aren’t stuffy here and we think that it’s your tea and you can have it anyway you like it! If you would like to follow convention however, Black tea can be taken with milk, Green Tea and Herbal Tea are always taken without milk. If you want to enhance the flavour of your tea, honey or lemon can be great choices.

What are the health benefits?

Each Blossom Blends Herbal Infusion has been developed by a qualified herbalist to provide therapeutic benefits whilst being a pleasure to drink. The black teas are also full of antioxidants that can improve wellbeing. Tea drinking aids digestion, can stimulate alertness and performance, combat tiredness as well as reducing the effect of age related diseases by cleansing the body of built-up toxins.

In addition, Blossom Blends debut herbal tea range is all caffeine free. This is an added benefit as Black Tea can contain as much as 70mg of caffeine (versus 90-150mg in a cup of coffee).
